We hope that you and your loved ones are well. As you may be aware, dental practices across the country have been permitted to reopen from Monday 8th June. We are looking forward to seeing you all and no doubt many of you are keen to get in as soon as possible to resume your dental care with us.

Our commitment to patient safety has always led procedures at our practice, with infection control a priority. Following the arrival of Covid-19, this is even more vital.

FIRST STEPS

Following national guidelines, we will be prioritising treatment in the first few weeks of reopening to patients who have had uncontrolled pain, swelling, trauma, broken teeth and lost crowns, bridges or implants, over the period of lockdown. We have approximately 150 patients who we need to deal with on an urgent basis and we will also be dealing with patients who develop these issues on a daily basis.

For this reason routine dental care, including examinations and dental hygienist visits, may still be some time off.

Once we have addressed our patients urgent care needs we can then move to more routine treatments.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

As we need to ensure that social distancing is followed where possible, we need to limit the number of patients in the practice, so this reduces the number of patients we can see in any one day.

BEFORE YOU MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

Please do not come to the practice to arrange an appointment as the front door will be locked.

We would prefer you to arrange your appointments by email at hobheydental@soegateway.com. Please give us as much detail as to what you need the appointment for.

The online booking facility has temporarily been disabled.

If you cannot use email you can phone us on 01925 762998 but please bear with us as we anticipate the phone lines to be very busy.

We would suggest that if you have had an appointment cancelled by us due to closure during lockdown then we will contact you.

If one of the dentists or staff members has spoken to you regarding a dental problem over the period of lockdown then we will contact you.

If you simply need a routine examination and hygiene session then please wait for your reminder to be sent.

Dental Plan patients will still get the entitled number of visits they are permitted on their dental plan.

We have had to rearrange over 1500 patients over the period of lockdown. We have all of your details, so please bear with us and we will get to you, we just need a little time.

BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT

You will be contacted by a member of the team and you will need to answer some questions about your health. If you currently have symptoms of Covid, or you are self isolating because someone in your household has symptoms of Covid, we will not be able to offer you an appointment.

You will be advised of an appointment time and though we will do our very best to accommodate your needs, we may have a little less flexibility in what we can offer initially.

ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT

Please wait in your car or outside the practice following the 2m distancing signs. The practice door will be locked. Please make sure you have your mobile phone with you and we will call you when you can enter the building.

Please attend alone, but if you need to bring a carer they can assist you into the building but they will then have to wait outside.

You will be escorted to what used to be the waiting room and asked to clean your hands with an alcohol gel. We will also repeat the Covid screening questions and take your temperature. If you have a temperature over 37.8C or you have answered questions indicating you may have or live with someone who has symptoms, we will not be able to offer you the appointment.

You will also be asked to use a mouth rinse. You will then be escorted to the surgery.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

After your treatment session you will be escorted out of the building and any further appointments that you need will be sent to you. You will not be able to go to the Reception.  If there is an issue with what we offer, you can email to rearrange. If there is any charge for your treatment you will receive an email invoice so you can pay by direct bank transfer.

We have no intention of being antisocial but can’t shake hands and we won’t be able to chat as much as we usually do. There is no waiting room and doors are left open, so you don’t need to open them.

Procedures will be constantly reviewed to keep everyone safe.

The intention of this email is to keep you update and to advise you of what your dental care will need to be like for the immediate future and to reassure you that we will contact you, but please contact us if you are having any pain or discomfort.

You have all been so patient and we are grateful for all the kind messages we have had from you. We are all eager to get back to what we do in a carefully planned and safe manner and we look forward to seeing you!
