Our Practice

Health and Safety

We take our responsibility to safeguard patients and staff while at the practice very seriously. We have an extensive Health and Safety Policy which is under constant review and we regularly have team training sessions in Health and Safety.

Cross Infection

The correct decontamination and disinfection of instruments is essential to ensure that your are treated safely in a clean environment.

We have a nominated person responsible for ensuring that our standards are consistently high. We audit our policies and procedures every three months and all of our staff are assessed regularly to ensure that their decontamination skills are maintained at a high level.

We use disposable items where possible - needles, impression trays, beakers, saliva ejectors, gloves, endodontic files etc.

All other items are decontaminated using a washer disinfector and then autoclaved to sterilise them. The instruments are then placed in a sealed bag which is only opened as we are about to treat you.

We have modern, low dose, X-ray units which are tested regularly in accordance with national guidelines. We also have digital radiography which will give us an immediate high quality image.

X-rays are only taken when clinically indicated.

Continuing Post Graduate Education

Our dentists, hygienists and therapists regularly attend courses and subscribe to specialist journals to keep abreast of developing dental techniques. In a rapidly changing profession this is very important.

Our dental nurses and receptionists are also committed to continuing professional development and further education.

Complaints and Suggestions

Although we work hard on the level of service and care we provide, we can only improve our service if we have feedback from our patients.

We have a complaints procedure in the practice which ensures that any grievance you may have is dealt with properly. A copy of our complaints procedure is on display in the reception.

Mrs Christine Lowe is our designated Complaints Manager who deals with any complaints we may recieve.

We have a suggestion box in the waiting room and we welcome any comments about the service we provide.

We send out annual questionnaires to a random selection of patients and we collect the results and act on them accordingly. We display the results in the waiting room.

We encourage feedback!
